When the World Series of Poker heads Down Under later this year, there will be a record number of bracelets on offer inside Melbourne’s Crown Casino. Continuing the WSOP’s mission to become a truly global organization, the 2014 WSOP APAC will touchdown in Australia in October and feature an augmented schedule of events. In total, there will be 10 championship events running between October 2nd and October 18th, and according to the organizers the festival will be “bigger and better” than ever before.

Indeed, aside from being the largest WSOP APAC ever, the two-week series will be the largest international WSOP in history, overtaking the WSOPE.

New Event Tourneys

This time around, the event will feature a slew of new tournaments, including a Dealers Choice and Terminator tournament, as well as a $10,000 Main Event. Aside from a slew of live satellites and cash games planned for the series, the WSOP APAC will feature ten bracelet events with buy-ins ranging from $1,100 to $25,000.

This year’s WSOP APAC the organizers have also confirmed that the Main Event and High Roller tournaments will receive “comprehensive” live TV coverage on both US and Australian TV courtesy of ESPN.

Commenting on the latest incarnation of the emerging event, the WSOP’s Ty Stewart said:

“New events at modest price points like the Dealers Choice and Terminator No-Limit Hold’em, plus an expansion of overall events and a move to springtime in Melbourne is designed to encourage the North American and European contingent to make this a can’t miss event. Plus, we have secured the most comprehensive live television coverage in both the U.S. and Australia for both the Main Event and High Roller.”

Last year the WSOP APAC featured five bracelet events and alongside Jim Collopy and Phil Ivey taking down titles, Daniel Negreanu managed to get his name onto a winner’s trophy. The Canadian pro outlasted 404 players to scoop his sixth WSOP bracelet and $1,038,825 after his pocket deuces outpaced Daniel Marton’s As 7s. That win capped off a successful international WSOP and the organizers are hoping to attract even more hopefuls this time around thanks to a slew of live and online satellites.
