The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is currently glistening on the horizon like a gold bracelet under a spotlight, but before the cards are in the air, you can have your say on this year’s event via a live Q&A.
Branded as the official WSOP Town Hall Twitch, the video conference will take place on May 19 at 4 pm ET and offer players and members of the media a chance to hear more about the series and, importantly, get answer to their questions.
Quiz the Bosses
WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart, Tournament Director Jack Effel and Head of Online Poker at WSOP.com Bill Rini will all be on hand to discuss this year’s Series and address any concerns that people might have.
The stream will kick off with an overview of the series and some of the WSOP’s recent announcements, after which, viewers will be invited to ask questions via the chat function on Twitch.
Alternatively, for those that want to get their opinion heard ahead of time, any questions sent to the WSOP’s official Twitter account (@WSOP) will be saved and read out during the broadcast.
Ahead of this year’s series, the WSOP has announced a host of innovations. Taking on board feedback from last year’s event, the organizers have switched up the official card supplier, made online registration easier, and increased the number of chips in play for all championship events.
WSOP 2016 Enhancements
- Payout structure changed so that 15 percent of the field will now get paid, compared to 10 percent in previous years.
- New start times for all events, with morning events kicking off at 11 am PT and afternoon tournaments starting at 3 pm PT.
- All $10,000 events will now offer starting stacks of 50,000 chips, which is an increase of 66 percent over previous years.
- This year’s official card supplier will be Copag, following a wave of discontent with the Modiano cards used in 2015.
- The registration process should be markedly better this year, thanks to a new online system powered by Genesis Gaming Solutions Inc.
The 2016 WSOP will officially start on May 31, host 69 bracelet events, and run through until July 18 when the Main Event will play down to a final nine before its traditional hiatus.
If you want to take part in the Q&A before the cards are in the air, make sure you tune into the official Twitch stream on May 19.
