PokerStars isn’t letting the grass grow under its proverbial feet. Just days after announcing three MicroMillions festivals, it’s has put together a $100 million World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP).
Hot on the heels of the community’s low stakes grinders fighting for MicroMillions glory, the big boys will come out to play.
WCOOP 2021 gets underway on August 22 and will run until September 15. During that time, there will be at least 75 MTTs, assuming PokerStars matches last year’s series.
WCOOP 2020 attracted more than 1.1 million buy-ins and smashed its $80 million guarantee by $99.9 million.
That level of interest has prompted PokerStars to up the guarantee this time around and build a better schedule than ever before.
The finer details are currently being finalized. However, PokerStars’ tournament team has confirmed the dates and, more importantly, that the 20th anniversary WCOOP will have a record guarantee.
While players with access to PokerStars’ dot.com network will be looking forward to WCOOP 2021, players in Pennsylvania are getting set for a special WSOP event.
To mark the launch of WSOP.com in the Keystone State, a selection of online bracelet events will be available between August 8 and 15.
WSOP.com only went live in Pennsylvania last week. That means there’s not enough for a liquidity sharing deal to be made with other states.
As such, WSOP.com PA players won’t be able to join the Online series currently taking place across the WSOP’s networks in New Jersey, Nevada, and Delaware.
Pennsylvanians might be able to join in the shared liquidity fun in the future. For now though, they’ll get their own bracelet series.
There will be eight events in total, and all of them will be No Limit Hold’em.
WSOP.com Pennsylvania Bracelet Series
Satellites for every event are currently running on WSOP.com PA and start at $1. Ty Stewart, SVP of the World Series of Poker, called the series a win for players.
It might not be the summer of action many people expected. COVID-19 restrictions are easing but life is far from normal in the US and, moreover, the world at large.
That means we have to wait until the fall for a live WSOP in Las Vegas. However, to ensure players don’t miss out on a summer of MTT action, the industry’s top names are pulling out all the stops.
From MicroMillions and WCOOP to WSOP Online Pennsylvania, there’s something for everyone over the next few weeks.
