Phil Galfond, one of the world’s top high stakes poker players, has just announced that he’s getting married.
Announcing the news to his legion of Twitter fans in typically witty fashion, the WSOP bracelet holder and online pro wrote that he is now engaged to American actress, Farah Fath.
The high stakes pro hasn’t been as active online in recent months as he usually is, which probably means he’s been spending a lot of time with his new wife to be who he called: “smart, funny, talented, incredible and (secretly) sweet.”
“Sorry guys…I have some awful news: PG is off the market. Engaged to the smart, funny, talented, incredible & (secretly) sweet @FarahFromKY.”
Joining the chorus of congratulations that rang out across social media earlier today was the likes of Ben Wilinofsky who tweeted:
“That sound you just heard was thousands of hearts breaking all across the continent. Congrats!“
In response to the news, Farah thanked a higher power for her life right now:
“I have SO much to be thankful for today!@PhilGalfond wants to marry me for starters. My scrumptious niece, my best friend & sister @FabFath the rest of my family, my health, my dogs. And thank you to all those that congratulated Phil & myself! We so appreciate the kind words.”
Following his initial tweet, Galfond simply said to Fath (via Twitter) “I love you.”
As yet a date for the wedding hasn’t been set, but Galfond appears to be extremely happy with his decision. However, with a wedding to pay for, it could mean some long sessions at the felt in the coming months and, therefore, some exciting action for the community to rail.Â
Although we all know who Phil Galfond is, some of us might not know much about Farah Fath. Born Farah LeeAllen Fath in 1984, Galfond’s fiancé is famous for her portrayal of Gigi Morasco on ABC Daytime’s One Life to Live. From 1999 to 2007 Fath also starred as Mimi Lockhart in NBC’s Days of Our Lives.
In addition to her acting roles, Fath also starred in a reality show called Dirty Soap alongside her one time friend, Kirsten Storms. The pairs’ relationship later soured and Fath has gone on record saying that Storms is now her “frenemny” (friendly enemy).
Fath had previously been linked to One Life to Live costar John-Paul Lavoisier (Rex Balsom in the show), but in 2014 she revealed that she has been in a relationship with poker pro, Phil Galfond.
