GGPoker Moves Step Closer to Pennsylvania Launch

GGPoker could be on its way to the Keystone State after its parent company was granted a license by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).

NSUS Ltd, the owner of GGPoker, was given a third-party operator’s license on February 10. This means it can now offer casino and poker services, such as software, to licensees in Pennsylvania.

Importantly, it doesn’t mean GGPoker can launch a poker site in the state. However, it is a positive step towards making that happen.

GGPoker Passes Initial Checks

Members of the PGCB met virtually on Wednesday. During the two-hour meeting, the topic of NSUS was discussed.

Among the chatter, the results of a recent review we made public.

“The Bureau of Investigations and Enforcement has completed its investigation and the Bureau of Licensing has provided you with a background investigation and suitability report,” Susan Hensel, director of licensing for the PGCB, said.

GGPoker has acknowledged that the license is an important piece of the puzzle when it comes to entering the US market.

However, press officer Paul Burke said that the company still needs an operating license before GGPoker Pennsylvania can become a reality.

Talking to CardsChat.com, he also said the plan is to remain quiet until more pieces of the puzzle are in place.

Even though GGPoker is playing its cards close to its chest, the winds of change are blowing. Indeed, with the wheels turning, PokerStars will be looking over its shoulder in the coming months.

Promising Times for Pennsylvania Online Poker Market

We already know that WSOP.com is targeting a H1 launch in Pennsylvania. If GGPoker can mobilize quickly and build on its current momentum, there could be three Pennsylvanian poker sites by the end of the year.

That would not only be good news for locals but the US online gaming scene in general.

COVID-19 has crippled economies. However, in among the myriad of industries going under, online poker has thrived. As more states look to recoup lost tax revenue, online gaming may become an attractive option to those that once opposed it.

Indeed, if Pennsylvania can license more operators and demonstrate poker’s popularity, it would be a great advert for the industry.

What’s more, it would benefit companies like GGPoker which are yet to break into the US market.

So, while the latest news isn’t quite as groundbreaking as it could have been, it certainly sets the foundations for an interesting 2021.
