Primarily as a mixed game specialist and with over $2.5 million in tournament cashes, the man known as Mojave has become a favorite among his peers.

Wanting to take advantage of this standing within the community, Players Come Frist (PCF) has drafted the Brazilian.

In another case of a former PokerStars representative finding a new home, Ramos will work as an ambassador for the online poker start-up.

Commenting on the signing, Ryan Campbell, director of business operations for PCF’s parent company, said Ramos was a perfect fit.

“It is rare to find someone as knowledgeable and passionate about his craft as Felipe. Everything he does starts with how it affects the players and what can we do to make their experience better,” Campbell said in an April 17 press release.

This player-centric focus is in vogue at the moment. Following discontent with how certain aspects of the industry have changed in recent years, operators have responded.

In January, Partypoker launched a player panel. Backed by its ambassadors, the group is designed to garner feedback from players and report back to executives.

Latching onto this trend, the Microgaming Poker Network (MPN) site will use Felipe Ramos as a figurehead to carve out a niche.

Another Poker Success Story

In tandem with his sponsorship deal, the poker pro is also expecting his first child. Married to fellow pro Natalie Hof, Ramos announced he’s to become the father of a baby girl.

With two top players as parents, the unborn child has the all the makings of a future champion. However, even if she doesn’t take up poker, Ramos will remain active in the game both as a player and an ambassador.

MPN may sit outside the industry’s top ten poker networks but player-friendly innovations may give PCF an edge.

Indeed, with PokerStars’ new loyalty scheme coming under fire this year, its competitors have seen a chance to capitalize. With the help of Felipe Ramos, PCF is aiming to exploit this discontent and become an emerging force within the industry.
