The Partypoker Millions Online main event got underway on February 21 with 591 hopefuls lining up for a shot at glory.
With a $5 million guarantee and a major title up for grabs, poker’s elite were out in force.
However, for all the talent on display, it was Canada’s Daniel Dvoress who emerged as the man to beat when Day 1A ended.
Everyone that entered the $5,300 main event got a one-million-chip starting stack. By the close of play, all but 89 had lost theirs.
Dvoress ended the session with 30.5 million chips, which was almost 3 million more than his closest rival, Hermogenes Gelonezi Junior.
With Partypoker Live and WSOP titles to his name, Dvoress will be a tough man to beat now he’s got a stack to work with. However, Day 1A’s other 88 survivors certainly aren’t short of skill.

2013 WSOP Main Event finalist Sylvain Loosli made it through the day, as did Dan Shak, and Partypoker’s Jaime Staples.
There’s talent aplenty vying for the title right now but there will be even more by the end of the week. Day 1B of the Millions Online main event takes place on February 28, before Day 2 gets underway on March 1.
To help drive interest in the event, Partypoker is giving away a free seat. Alongside satellites, one lucky player will get into the main event by telling a convincing story.
The promotion is open to anyone with a Partypoker.com account and in a country where Millions Online is running.
To enter, you simply have to complete the following steps:
I'm THRILLED to announce that@partypoker and I are going to reward someone with a $5,300 MILLIONS Main Event seat

Naturally, Partypoker’s decision is final and there is no cash alternative. However, the lucky winner will get to play for a guaranteed prizepool of at least $5 million.
Given that almost $3 million was collected on Day 1A, there’s a strong chance the guarantee will be beaten. If that’s the case, the winner could bank somewhere in the region of $500,000+.
Winning that much from a free ticket would be even sweeter. However, it won’t be easy. Day 1B will see just as many high-level pros ante-up as Day 1A.
That’s good news for those on the rail as it means the quality of poker on display will be high. In turn, that means the Millions Online finale will be a spectacle worth watching.
