Chris Moorman may just be the greatest online tournament poker player of all time, and he continues to prove it to this day.
Not only did Moorman accomplish one of the most revered feats in tournament poker for the 25th time last week, but he also added one of the few titles that he had yet to capture to his sterling resume.
Moorman won his 25th online poker Triple Crown last week, a record total that he continues to add to every few months or so.
The “Triple Crowns” are tracked by poker website PocketFives, and require a player to win three separate tournaments at three different poker sites in the same week.
To qualify, each of those tournaments much have at least 100 entries and a total prize pool of at least $10,000.
Triple Crown Fueled by Wins on Consecutive Days
Moorman’s most recent Triple Crown performance began on May 8, when he won a $77 buy-in tournament at Everest Poker during the iPoker Online Poker Series. That title earned him a $15,000 prize.
It didn’t take long for Moorman to add to his haul, however. On May 9, he won an 888poker tournament known as the $20,000 Crocodile, winning a little over $6,300 in the process.
That put him in position for yet another Triple Crown, and he managed to close the deal on May 15. That’s when Moorman won a $109 No Limit Hold’em Turbo on PokerStars, cashing for $2,875.
Prior to this month, Moorman’s most recent Triple Crown came late last year, when he won tournaments at Full Tilt, William Hill and PokerStars in quick succession in late November and early December.
Moorman’s 25 total Triple Crowns is by far the most of any player in the world, with Nicolas Fierro (known as “PokerKaiser”) in second place with just 16.
Moorman Wins First PokerStars 500Â
That alone would make a month for many poker players. However, Moorman has continued to win tournaments since then, potentially setting up another Triple Crown while also winning one of the few major tournaments that had eluded him thus far.
On May 16, Moorman took down the $30,000 Guaranteed Saturday Major at bwin, winning $7,290. But that was just a prelude what he would do on Sunday, traditionally the biggest day of the week for online poker.
On May 17, Moorman won the PokerStars Sunday 500, a $530 buy-in event that he had never come out on top of before. The win earned him $87,400, far short of his biggest ever cash (he took home more than $235,000 from finishing 3rd in a 2011 Full Tilt tournament), but still a significant addition to his online winnings.
Moorman has actually gone on to win to win a total of four tournaments online this week, though he still hasn’t been awarded another Triple Crown.
That’s because three of those wins have occurred at PokerStars: since the Sunday 500 win, he has also come out on top in a $109 Turbo and a $215 Turbo in recent days.
Overall, PocketFives lists more than $12.3 million in lifetime online tournament cashes for Moorman, most of which has come from PokerStars and Full Tilt. He is currently 12th in the site’s rankings of online poker players.
Moorman hasn’t been a slouch in live play, either. He has won over $4 million in live tournament play, including a victory at the 2014 World Poker Tour LA Poker Classic.
