Tennis ace Boris Becker is now a member of Team GGPoker as the company presses on with its international expansion operation.
With online poker in the midst of a coronavirus lockdown-induced boom, the Asian operator has moved to capitalize.
Fresh off signing Bertrand Grospellier, GGPoker has branched out and brought in a sporting legend in Becker.
Boris Becker Back in Poker
During his tennis career, Germany’s Becker won everything there was to win. He won his first Grand Slam title in 1985 at the age of 17.
Despite being unseeded, Becker beat Kevin Curren in four sets to become the youngest ever Wimbledon and Grand Slam singles champion. He went on to win six more majors and become a household name to millions.

Since retiring from tennis, Becker has added poker to his list of secondary careers. He picked up his first live cash at EPT Monte Carlo in 2008 and currently has just over $111,000 in live earnings.
The German’s latest sponsorship deal comes after working with PokerStars and Partypoker. As well as partnering with GGPoker, the retired sportsman will also represent King’s Casino Rozvadov.
Three-Way Deal to Benefit All
The three-way link up marks a meeting of continents. GGPoker has risen up to become one of the biggest online operators to come out of Asia. Similarly, King’s Casino Rozvadov has become a bastion of live poker in Europe over the last five years.
Using Becker as a lynchpin, the two companies will now look to expand their presence both within the poker industry and the world at large.
“The addition of both a sporting great like Boris and a respected poker brand like King’s to the GGPoker roster means we continue to go from strength to strength,” said Jean-Christophe Antoine, Head of GGPoker.
Becker has a significant mainstream following. On social media alone he has upwards of one million followers. He’s also a staple fixture on sports broadcasts across a variety of European TV networks, including the BBC.
GGPoker and King’s will look to use Becker’s profile to enhance their own. However, before that, the WSOP Super Circuit Online Series will be the focus for all.
The event will take place on GGPoker and every member of its team, including new recruits Grospellier and Becker, will be fighting for one of 18 Circuit rings
