Amaya will be adding to its range of games on PokerStars and Full Tilt, but it won’t be on the poker side of its platforms.
Continuing the recent trend of bolstering its non-poker options, specifically sports betting and casino gaming, Amaya has agreed to a deal with edict egaming to supply a new range of slots.
According to a press release sent out this week, Amaya has agreed to a deal with edict egaming to utilize its Game Bridge technology and integrate a new selection of Merkur slot games into PokerStars’ and Full Tilt’s platforms.
Games such as Magic Mirror and Blazing Star are reportedly extremely popular in Central Europe, which should give PokerStars and Full Tilt a greater appeal in countries such as Germany, Poland and Croatia in the coming months.
In fact, edict egaming is a subsidiary of German company the Gauselmann Group and its range of land-based casino games are seen as a major brand in the local area and beyond.
Commenting on the new deal, Amaya’s director of casinos, Sam Hobcraft, explained that edict’s content would continue the company’s mission to offer a more complete online betting experience.
“This will make the casino experience at PokerStars and Full Tilt even more exciting, and helps us to deliver on our commitment to offer a wide variety of high quality, fun and thrilling games,” said Hobcraft.
For fans of online slots the news is bound to raise a smile, but for those who remain faithful to PokerStars’ and Full Tilt’s poker roots, the deal is yet another departure from the way things used to be.
Although the Rational Group (parent company of PokerStars and Full Tilt), under its previous owners, the Oldford Group, had planned to implement casino gaming into PokerStars platform, Amaya has certainly accelerated the process.
Since purchasing the Rational Group, Amaya has added a raft of casino games and sports betting options in line with its status as a supplier of casino, poker and sportsbook software.
Moreover, with poker market continuing to contract, Amaya has focused a lot more on casual players in recent months and that’s resulted in more gambling-style games and innovations.
Many long serving players have criticized these changes and the news that Amaya is brokering more casino-based deals is unlikely to appease the naysayers.
Regardless of the critics, PokerStars and Full Tilt looks set to continue expanding beyond their poker roots and become fully stocked online betting platforms designed to cater to players of all persuasions.
