Isaac Haxton Looking to Celebrate in Caribbean Poker Party Finale

The end is nigh for Partypoker’s Caribbean Poker Party main event but, before the lights go down, a final session will sort the also rans from the champion.

Play in the $5,300 MTT resumes on November 25 with a tough line-up of grinders and established pros. Diego Ventura leads the way with 307 million chips but faces stiff competition from a strong supporting cast.

Partypoker Ambassador Isaac Haxton stands as the biggest threat. With more than $27 million in live tournament earnings and just as much in cash games, he’s one of the game’s elite and a danger to everyone.

Pros Run Deep but Ventura Finishes on Top

The penultimate day of action saw 29 players return on November 24. Having beaten the bubble the previous day, all attention was fixed on the $879,894 top prize.

Anton Siden was the first to fall. The Swede’s elimination in 29^th place broke the early deadlock and earned him a $23,322 payday. Over the next five hours, 19 more would fall, including Jonathan Van Fleet, Mike Watson, and Partypoker’s Anatoly Filatov.

Filatov made his final stand with pocket sevens. A call from Haxton holding pocket fours would have given Filatov a shot at survival had it not been for Jonathan Proudfoot.

The Englishman joined the party and called with pocket kings. The 6♣ A♠ 6♦ T♠ 2♠ board didn’t swing things in Filatov’s favor and, with that, he was sent to the rail in tenth to collect his $52,887 consolation prize.

Tough Final Table in Caribbean Poker Party Main Event

That pot put a dent in Haxton’s stack, but it wasn’t enough to send him any lower than fourth in the chip counts. Proudfoot, on the other hand, scooped enough chips to end the session in third place.

With more than $5 million in online earnings, he’s a threat at the final table as is Grayson Ramage. The Canadian has the second biggest stack and recently finished third in the Caribbean Poker Party mini main event.

That result will give him the confidence to pressure chip leader Diego Ventura when the action gets underway at 19:05 GMT.

For everyone not playing, Partypoker’s Twitch channel will broadcast all the action. The live stream (on a delay) will feature commentary from a host of stars, including Jason Koon.

When the action concludes, one player will join past winners like Filipe Oliveira and become the inaugural Caribbean Poker Party main event champion.
