Daniel Negreanu Causes More Mark-up Debates with Unique WSOP Package

Daniel Negreanu is putting his money where his mouth is following a recent spat with outspoken pro Shaun Deeb.

With shots flying regarding the mark-up players are charging on staking packages, Negreanu has taken the initiative.

Despite defending every player’s right to choose their mark-up, Kid Poker has cut his costs.

Negreanu Address His Critics

In a 22-minute video (see above), the Canadian discussed a number of topics, including his World Series of Poker (WSOP) plans.

Initially, Negreanu addressed the Jonnie Vibes mark-up debacle that prompted his latest battle with Deeb. His point, as it’s always been, was that it’s a free market.

“I don’t believe in this nanny, sissy, pansification state where we have to protect people from their own investments,” Negreanu said during his monologue.

In short, the poker veteran believes the market should decide what something is worth. Therefore, to attack someone offering a WSOP package because you don’t think it’s fair is, in his opinion, bullying.

In his defense, Deeb has explained that he feels too many players are taking advantage of investors. However, to completely eliminate any issues regarding his own WSOP package, Negreanu has come up with a unique system.

Low Roller Package: Players can buy a percentage of Negreanu’s action in tournaments with entry fees of $1,500 and under. The total amount of action available is 10 percent and individuals can invest a maximum of $100.
Mid Stake Package: Players can buy a percentage of Negreanu’s action in tournaments with entry fees between $1,500 and $10,000. The total amount of action available is 25 percent and individuals can invest a maximum of $500.
High Roller Package: Players can buy a percentage of Negreanu’s action in tournaments with entry fees above $10,000. The total amount of action available is 50 percent and individuals can invest a maximum of $5,000.

The clincher to the whole offer is that there won’t be any mark-up.

WSOP Deal Designed to Shock

The move is likely to generate a huge amount of interest given Negreanu’s track record at the WSOP.

As well as openly posting his buy-ins vs. results, something few players do, Kid Poker is one of the Series’ most successful players. With six WSOP bracelets and over $39 million in live earnings, he is considered +EV against the average tournament field.

The reason for charging, in his words, “f**k all,” is to have some fun. However, there’s a chance it’s also a way of hitting back at Deeb.

Although the American is no stranger to controversy, even he will be hard-pressed to argue against what Negreanu is offering.
